The $1,000 local first prize went to Robert Kline, a Mayo, radiology/oncology physicist. Robert’s daughter is waiting for a heart/lung transplant and he felt ashamed that he was still smoking. This was the first time he has attempted to quit. The $500 second prize went to Jason Rizzo of Rochester City Lines. Jason has tried quitting before. The $250 third prize went to Joyce Rodgers. Joyce used a patch to help quit, and can’t believe how much time she wasted smoking! She didn’t exercise before because it was too painful, but she is able to move more easily now. The $1,000 healthcare worker prize went to Stacy Titterington a Home healthcare worker. Stacy’s life is better since she quit – she has started running and working out and feels great! Stacy planned on quitting for a month and started exercising because she didn’t want to gain weight. The $1,000 recruiter prize went to Virginia Erbe. Virginia recruited a sister who unfortunately didn’t quit smoking. Congratulations to all who participated! Being smoke-free is a great reward in itself. |
